To celebrate St. George's Day, Shake Shack have come up with a special burger that migrates away from the usual mellow, tallowy styled burgers we're used to, to hit you in the face with a bit proper English flavour.
Ladies and Gentlemen, it's The Yard Burger.
As with a lot of what Shake Shack do, it's pretty simple. It's done away with the American cheese, and in its place it celebrates a very English Montgomery Cheddar from Neal's Yard. It's a cheese that has been chosen to pack a sharp punch of matured flavour, and it's melted on top of the trademark shack patty merging with the wonderfully thick, caramelized crust. This is topped with a pile of 2-day pickled house onion rings and Shack Sauce.
The effect is almost exactly like a good old fashioned cheese and onion sandwich. With the added bonus of a massive hit of beef and the outrageously soft Martin's Potato Roll. Luverly.
It's a good'un, but you'd better get down for your shack attack soon as the special ends on Sunday 26 April - Oggy Oggy Oggy!
